The 8th grade students in our Religious Education program and the students at St. Mary’s Academy were confirmed on April 25th, 2026. His Excellency, Bishop Peter Byrne, was assisted by Fr. Mark Vaillancourt, Fr. Robert Carolan, Fr. Vincent Paul, and Deacons George Chiu and Stephen DiGangi. His Excellency mentioned Fernando Mendoza, an exceptional, if not remarkable, college athlete (and last year’s Heisman Trophy winner, now playing with the NFL), as a role model of a devout Catholic who is very grateful to God, his family, and his team, his coach, and especially his wheelchair-bound mother, whom he gave honor to. (It might prove to be worthwhile to look him up with your child, to view some videos of Fernando. His witness to Christ’s presence in his life is powerful.)
All of the preparation for these glorious ceremonies was coordinated by Maggie Kenyon, our Director of Religious Education. And we thank our dedicated teacher, Susan Leighton, and her substitute, James Lanera.
