On October 7th, the Feast of the Most Holy Rosary, His Eminence Timothy Michael Cardinal Dolan visited Kennedy Catholic to bless the new middle school, St. Mary’s Academy. The day began early with His Eminence’s arrival where he was greeted by the school’s president Fr. Vaillancourt and its principal Mr. Gregory Viceroy. The procession began at the Academy entrance, located in the West Wing of the main building. His Eminence led the academy students in the Rosary and then blessed the facility, now home to 90 students grades 6-8. Once inside the auditorium for community Mass, the Cardinal was regaled by academy students to the hymn Immaculate Mary, under the direction of the school’s choir director, Ines Wilhelm Boston. During the Mass the Cardinal reminded the students at the homily of the importance of daily recitation of the Rosary as a way to pursue holiness and grow in devotion to the Blessed Mother. His Eminence was then presented by the students with a plaque commemorating the name of the new wing as the Dolan Pavilion. The event closed with a reception with faculty and trustees and a tour of the building, accompanied by the student council.
